CCMG had a workday at Little Lake Eureka on Saturday, August 30 at 9am. We did some necessary weeding and removed some of the cleome plants to allow other plants, like the purple fountain grass, to show. Our August arrangements, designed by Kathryn Harvey, were placed at the Eureka Springs Carnegie Public Library. “Tea Time at the Library” contains Echiveria, Graptoveria & Rhipsalis succulents.
Tuesday the garden at the Green Forest Library got quite the clean up by Stacee Nuckolls, Julie Sooter, as Cynthia Osborne was installing the watering system. Thank you ladies the garden looks great. The sunflowers tower over the garden it’s real pretty.
A regularly scheduled workday was held at Little Lake Eureka on July 24, 2025. Linda Rogers (chaired), Darla Danvers, and Kim Yonkee volunteered for sanctioned work hours. Workday July 23 at Fishes and Loaves. Deer have been enjoying the sweet potatoes. Leanne, Carsten (my grandson), and I harvested 1 1/2 lb. of produce and removed excess grass. The heat is adversely affecting the tomatoes, peppers, and squash. — Cynthia Osborne
Thanks to Jan Scheel and Kristy Noble for putting in extra time during the week and watering in the library garden. At today’s scheduled 2nd Tuesday workday, Jan got there early and got everything watered. Lori Wilson-Ball, Anita Engert, and Jennifer Hudspeth deadheaded and cleaned up spent daylily and perennial debris, weeded, and picked bagworms
We have now harvested 14 lb. of produce. Heat and white flies have hit the tomatoes hard and hurt production. Our regular workday is Wednesday at 9. Lite weeding and harvesting peppers, tomatoes and squash will be done. Thank you, Kathryn, Luanne for your hard work last week.
Darla, Linda, and Jennifer attended. We worked on removing larkspur and poppy plants that had died back from the garden. Seeds from the pods were shaken back into the garden soil to replenish the flower seed bank there. General weeding was done, and a stirrup hoe was used with great results to remove ground cover
