Jan Scheel, Karen Reeves, Tammy McCance and myself worked on this project last night. Despite the wind, we accomplished a lot. The Japanese Maple was transplanted, the gazebo area bushes and liriope were clipped, the grasses were cut back, weeds were pulled and the crepe myrtle was pruned. We are anxious to see if the Russian Sage and Echinacea returns. Thanks to all for getting this ready for Spring. We invite everyone to do a drive-by. It’s so pretty! ~Nancy Plagge

Thanks to Sue Davis and Jan Scheel for working tonight. We pulled loads of nut grass and Bermuda grass. Waiting on the City’s plan for replacement plants. The gazebo and dragon wing begonias look nice too! The CCMG’ers make it even prettier. ~ Nancy Plagge

At 5:00 pm on Friday, May 5 we will be planting begonias around the Green Forest Square gazebo. We will also be amending the soil around the gazebo during the planting. Please bring claws, forks and other tools to be able to help break up the soil and add the fertilizer. Plus an enthusiastic attitude for keeping this project one to be proud of!
The City is in the planning process of expanding the square so our involvement this year may be limited until they can complete some of this construction.
In the meantime, they have asked us to consider some plant replacement options for them. The knock-out roses were diseased and removed last fall. This has left large vacant areas in the north and south beds. They would like some ideas from us for more permanent solutions in these areas. Bushes, grasses, dwarf trees, etc. Please be thinking about this and let me know your ideas either through email or we can discuss on May 5 during our work day.
