Little Lake Eureka, Projects

Little Lake Eureka 6/12/25

We had a workday at Little Lake Eureka on June 12.  Kim Yonkee, Darla Danvers, Linda Rogers, and Jennifer Boardman volunteered to help that day.  We marked more spring narcissus bulb clumps for division and then removed their dead leaves, pruned and tidied up the lamb’s ear, cleaned the spillway drain (important to prevent flooding

Loaves & Fishes 6/17/25

First harvest!!! Thank you Kristy Noble-Tesch for working at Loaves & Fishes. They were so pleased with the Master Gardeners for doing this project. Beverly Tiegland (L) taught me how to sex a bell pepper. She said the females are sweeter. (Imagine that 🤣) Susan Brandt (R) is the intake coordinator at the food bank.

Berryville Library – 6/10/25

Darla Danvers and Jennifer Hudspeth volunteered at the recent Berryville Library workday. Weeding and pruning the spent bloom and foliage was the focus. The gardens are beautiful after the recent rains. The daylilies, echinacea (coneflower), oak leaf and macrophylla hydrangeas, russian sage, drift roses, hosta, and purple heart are all in bloom. Green Forest Library, Projects

Green Forest Library 6/3/25

Had a very productive work day at Green Forest. Lots of weeding was done, and the volunteer sunflowers were thinned out. Stacee Nuckolls planted Lantana, Zinnia Profusion, and Periwinkle, which was provided by our speaker at our meeting, and mulch was laid. It looks fabulous. Little Lake Eureka – 5/22/25

Our workday last Thursday, May 22 was a productive one.  Volunteers that earned sanctioned work hours included:  Kathryn Harvey, Darla Danvers, Melissa Sunshine, Linda Rogers, and Jennifer Boardman.  We removed debris from the Little Lake Eureka spillway grate.  It is important for this to stay clear to prevent flooding of the flower beds.  We added

Loaves & Fishes – 6/2/25

We had a great work day at Loaves and Fishes.  Thank you to our workers Kristy Noble-Tesch, Brenda Champlin (not pictured), Jennifer Boardman, Vonnie Dikeman, and Julie Sooter.  We weeded, planted more tomatoes and peppers, watered and put out red pepper to deter the deer.  We have two small bell peppers growing.  Hopefully next week

Berryville Library – 5/28/25

On Tuesday, May 28, Kristy Tesch, Regina and Randy Hooten, Anita Engert, and Jennifer Hudspeth volunteered at the Berryville Library Gardens. The gardens are looking and lush, and weeds were plentiful after all the rain.
