On Tuesday, May 28, Kristy Tesch, Regina and Randy Hooten, Anita Engert, and Jennifer Hudspeth volunteered at the Berryville Library Gardens. The gardens are looking and lush, and weeds were plentiful after all the rain. We weeded, deadheaded spent bulb foliage, transplanted a hellebore and liriope, and planted a donated macrophylla hydrangea. Perennial daylilies, native milkweed (asclepias), echinacia, and Russian sage are beautiful. The flowering shrubs, sweet spire (itea), spirea, Rose of Sharon (althea), and oak leaf hydrangeas are all beginning to bloom. The next workday is Tuesday, June 25 at 8:30 am.
