A regularly scheduled workday was held at Little Lake Eureka on July 24, 2025. Linda Rogers (chaired), Darla Danvers, and Kim Yonkee volunteered for sanctioned work hours. Flowers in bloom at this time are: Cleome (just beginning), Tall American Bellflower, Zinnia, and Datura (to name a few). The Datura offers protection from deer for the Zinnia plants peaking through. The Arkansas Bluestar plants are looking wonderful and should provide fall color in a few months. Some of the peony plants have developed powdery mildew. We trimmed some of the affected leaves back and Kim has offered to treat with a solution she thinks might help. Weeding focused on mulberry plant, Japanese stiltgrass, and other grass.
Jennifer Boardman was unable to attend, but has been working in the garden at her convenience. ALL of the plant tags donated to the garden by Mary Burks and the Loaves and Fishes grant have been used to replace older tags that were in bad shape and to identify plants that were not labeled. Several residents have commented that they appreciate the ID tags. Thank you for the tags!!!
