Little Lake Eureka – 7/10/25

Darla, Linda, and Jennifer attended.  We worked on removing larkspur and poppy plants that had died back from the garden.  Seeds from the pods were shaken back into the garden soil to replenish the flower seed bank there.  General weeding was done, and a stirrup hoe was used with great results to remove ground cover that tends to get out of control.  A small Nicotiana sylvestris, a night flowering  tobacco, was planted in hopes it will bloom yet this year.  It grows to about the size of a wild mullein, and is very fragrant at night when in bloom.

This, along with our night blooming Datura metel, will make for a beautiful “moonlight garden”!  The newly planted salvia, “Rockin Deep Purple”, was moved to a sunnier spot.  Melissa Sunshine has volunteered to water Little Lake Eureka twice weekly and this will be a BIG help!  Thank you, Melissa!
