Our Berryville Public Library workday with Jan Scheel, Sue Davis, Anita Engert, and Jennifer Hudspeth closed out the month of June. Two new ’Scentlandia’ Virginia Sweetspire, and one ‘Emerald Spreader’ Japanese Yew were planted in the bed under the Paperbark Birch tree in the center bed. The area is dry shade due to the high water needs of the birch, and supplemental watering is necessary. A big thank you to the county maintenance crew for repairing one of the water hydrants.

More blooming hosta
Blooming Hosta, today is your day

Ten more bags of mulch were added, the birch had a light pruning, weeds were pulled, and we all enjoyed the morning. We will continue to relocate some of the daylilies and milkweed as well as adding low maintenance blooming perennials and another yew.
