Summer Pollination Action

The Berryville Public Library gardens are looking nice despite no rain for several weeks. Regina Hooten, Sue Davis, Anita Engert, and Jennifer Hudspeth spent the morning weeding, light pruning, and quite a bit of supplemental watering.

The limelight hydrangeas are beautiful and in full bloom as well as the coneflowers, buddleia, and a few late daylilies. Several varieties of butterflies were spotted feeding on nectar plants in the garden.

The irrigation system is an issue and still not in working order despite the best efforts of Sue Davis. Looks like a plumber will be necessary to repair the water spigot, and we hope the county will agree to the repairs.

These long, hot days of August are always a challenge in the garden, and we look forward to the cooler days of fall. ~Jennifer Hudspeth
