Linda Rogers, Tracey Carroll, and Jennifer Boardman volunteered for 1.5 hours on the December 11, 2025 workday; our last formal workday of 2025.
Linda decorated the deer topiary with a red garland “scarf”, making it festive for the holiday season. Tracey pruned the Amsonia (Arkansas Bluestar) back, as it was finished with its Fall display of yellow color. The stems were somewhat hollow, and it was decided to leave them about a foot long for native pollinator nesting habitat, and to provide winter interest in the garden.

The peonies were all pruned to a few inches above ground level, and 2 out of 3 clumps of Pink Muhly Grass were pruned to about 6 inches. One clump was left as is, because it was still very beautiful. The native blue aster was left intact to provide seeds for wildlife and winter interest. Jennifer’s husband, Michael, helped us replace 2 deteriorating landscape timbers. Thank you!!! Linda made a list of all the plant names on the new plant tags. We will use this current information to update the garden map this winter, as we plan for next year.
Lastly, we planted some Echinacea seed in a pot that we are planning to introduce into the sanctioned garden project. Jennifer will act as caretaker of the planted seeds as they go through their cold moist stratification period this winter. We hope to get good germination this coming Spring!
