Little Lake Eureka – 10/23/25

A regularly scheduled workday was held at Little Lake Eureka at 2pm on October 23.  Darla Danvers, Linda Rogers, and Jennifer Boardman earned sanctioned garden work hours that day.

We continued on with the plant ID tag relabeling project and are proud to say that it is close to being completed now.  This is an accomplishment and we hope that the new UV resistant labels will stand up to the elements.

Discussion continued about the garden design and planning for next year.  We made the decision to remove another plant, the red twig dogwood, that was not thriving.  We are hoping to use this space for planting en masse the plants that do thrive in this garden.  The pink muhly grass is absolutely beautiful, the native blue aster is blooming well, and the ajuga is thriving!

Linda trimmed the boxwood topiary, and Darla planted more flowering onion bulbs, variety ‘Purple Sensation”.  Jennifer thinned the sedum ground cover with her scuffle hoe.  Tourists stopped with a guide to enjoy the space and learn about the history of Little Lake Eureka.  We noticed a couple studying the plant labels while we were there.

It was an enjoyable time working together at this sanctioned garden and we hope all members of CCMG can help here in the future.
