Spring Garden Cleanup: Regina with large amount of garden clippings and debris taken to dumpster

Master Gardeners Jan Scheel, Regina Hooten, Sue Davis, Anita Engert, and Jennifer Hudspeth worked on the first early spring cleanup in the Berryville Public Library Gardens. Pruning and foliage cleanup was on the agenda.

  • Spring blooming Crocus foliage
  • A Clean Slate for Spring: South facing bed behind library after pruning and clean up
  • Daffodils are beginning their springtime show
  • Drift roses pruned around the Green Velvet boxwood
  • Helleborus “Ivory Prince’ in bloom
  • Variety of spring bulbs will be blooming in the coming weeks
  • Panicle Hydrangea ‘Limelight’ dried blooms offer interest in the late winter garden

The Beautyberry, Spirea, and Drift Roses in the back garden were pruned, and Jan worked on the Knockout Roses in front of the building. The dried perennial foliage was removed from all of the beds, and beds were cleaned and tidied for spring. Spring-blooming bulbs are beginning to pop up through the mulch. Work days at the library will be every other Wednesday. We will be spreading mulch donated by Carl Ward’s Lawn Service. We look forward to a show of daffodils, crocus, and tulips in the coming weeks. ~Jennifer Hudspeth
