The Carroll County Master Gardeners held a county-wide plant sale at the Equity Bank parking lot in Berryville, AR. The gardeners grew plants from seeds or divided their own plants to sell. After setting up tables and signage, twenty-six Master Gardeners helped customers with information about the various plants, and also helped carry plants to customers’ vehicles. The community response was very positive, and the flow of customers was constant.
The plant sale committee took care of all the advertising, which was very effective in getting out the word via newspapers, two radio stations, and brochures posted in all four towns in the county. Announcing that there was to be a raffle for a beautiful pedestal planter with exclusive perennial plants from Bear Creek Nursery seemed to sweeten the pot with over 200 tickets sold. The drawing was a noon, and the winner was a local woman, Sandra Tumbleson.
I witnessed great team work from everyone in their effort to provide healthy plants to the community and show our friends and neighbors what a cohesive, productive group of University of Arkansas Master Gardeners we are. ∼Deb Thompson
Congratulations to Sandra Tumbleson – the new owner of this lovely planter from Bear Creek Nursery!
