Madison Woods, author, artist and ginseng grower, presented valuable information to our members at the January, 2018 monthly meeting of CCMG about this remarkable plant.

She spoke with members on: the medicinal value of ginseng, where and how it grows, and the legalities of harvesting ginseng. Madison propagates and wild harvests the roots at her farm in Madison County, also selling the seeds and different aged roots. She makes jellies to sell and shared a taste with all of the members. I personally found it to be on the tart side, but quite delicious! ~ Deb Thompson.

Due to technical difficulties, Madison was not able to share her presentation slideshow at the meeting, “American Ginseng: Wild Treasure in the Ozark Hills”. It contains an in-depth look at this wild plant, including some outstanding photography. With her permission, Sam Davis produced a narrated video of the slideshow, link to You Tube below – (9:45).
